do you know that every mezuzah has wear and tear?

Just as we go to the mechanic to maintain good performance of our car, so too mezuzahs need proper maintenance.

Unfortunately many of my customers call me to check their mezuzahs due to something that is going wrong in their life, may it be health, financial or "shalom bayit" issues.

Although there is reality to this, and many Rabbis send for mezuzahs to be checked, and many a time i find some issue in their mezuzahs. [sometimes the mistakes are spookily related to the issue going on.....]

But why wait for trouble???? The halacha requirement for a mezuzah inspection is 2 times in 7 years. That is obviously if the mezuzah did not go thru any trauma [such as overzealous Pesach water cleaning....] were-then immediate inspection should be done.

Keeping a "healthy" mezuzah is a big mitzvah, this mitzvah offers reward in the form of protection and long life as is well known.

So i recommend that we all view this precious mitzvah no less the we view all our physical items and appliances we have at home. Just as we take for granted that we are required to take good care of our physical possessions, so too we have the merit and obligation of taking good care of our Mitzvah "objects".
